We had a fantastic 2018 full of excellent education and social events enjoyed by all. For 2019 we are hitting the ground running with our first schedule speaker on January 8^th. We are excited to welcome Anjum Khurshid with Dell Medical School to discuss “Use of Data Analytics for Achieving Population Health”. There will be several use cases presented.

Learn how Dell Medical School is playing a role in building a data ecosystem in Austin, its challenges and opportunities

Summary

Health and healthcare rely on timely, accurate, and relevant information to achieve personal and population level health outcomes. The Dell Medical School’s Data Core is working on a set of broad initiatives with multiple community partners to help build such a data ecosystem. The session will describe some of these initiatives and discuss the challenges and opportunities related to health data in Austin.

Bio

Dr. Khurshid is Director of Data Integration in the Dell Medical School and also co-directs the Data Core, a specialized unit for facilitating access to health data. He is a nationally-recognized leader in the fields of population health and health information technology. In 2014, he was appointed to the Federal Advisory Committee on Health IT Policy by the Secretary of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In 2016, he co-chaired of the Task Force on Interoperability Experience formed by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. Prior to that, he was the principal investigator for the $13.5 million Crescent City Beacon Community program in New Orleans which won the Health Care Informatics Innovator Award in 2013. He is a long-time HIMSS member and has presented at national and regional HIMSS meetings. Dr. Khurshid earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the King Edward Medical University, Lahore and his PhD in Public Policy and Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin.=
