Austin HIMSS is proud to present our first speaker panel dedicated to distributed ledger technologies (DLT). While the term ‘blockchain’ is often used in the healthcare community, excessive hype often blurs understanding of practical applications and use cases for DLT. Our panel is composed of four executives from local tech companies who are demonstrating realistic, appropriate, and outstanding uses for blockchain in our community. Our moderator, David Metcalf, is a nationally recognized blockchain technology leader who has literally written the book on the subject and whose company, Global Blockchain Ventures, funds “the most disruptive projects with the ability to offer actual, practical blockchain enabled applications”.
