This class will walk attendees through the material required to address the requirements to be certified as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management System (CPHIMS).

Will the CPHIMS advance my career?

The CPHIMS certification does not guarantee a job or certification however it does show leaders within an organization that you are serious about your career as healthcare IT professionals.

How long is the test?

The CPHIMS exam is a two-hour exam composed of 115 multiple-choice questions, 100 of which are scored. The exam focuses on common knowledge and skills that were identified as being important to competent practice through a job analysis in health IT.

What are the pre-requisite?

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university plus five (5) years of information and management systems hands-on work experience. Information and management systems experience refers to work experience in systems analysis; design; selection, implementation, support, and maintenance; testing and evaluation; privacy and security; information systems; clinical informatics; management engineering. Of those five (5) years of experience, at least three (3) of those years must be in a healthcare setting. A healthcare setting is defined to include experience with a provider of health services or products to a healthcare facility (e.g., hospital; healthcare consulting firm; vendor; federal, state, or local government office; academic institution; payer; public health, etc.)

Graduate degree or higher from an accredited college or university plus three (3) years of information and management systems experience. Information and management systems experience refers to work experience in systems analysis; design; selection, implementation, support, and maintenance; testing and evaluation; privacy and security; information systems; clinical informatics; management engineering. Of those three (3) years of experience, at least two (2) of those years must be in a healthcare setting.
