Blockchain offers a fundamental shift in how the internet can be used for information sharing and data exchange in healthcare and public health. Blockchain technology enables trust without a centralized 3rd-party – as well as enables the creation of an internet of “value.” Dr. Savel will provide a primer on the fundamentals of blockchain, discuss the potential impact of blockchain on the healthcare system and public health, and provide thoughts from his participation on an actual blockchain project.
