Increasing demands on providers are leading to high rates of provider dissatisfaction and burnout. One of the most cited causes of this concerning trend is the electronic health record (EHR). Through the use of informatics guided training methodologies, a far reaching, structured provider engagement program and a provider liaison program, discover how one health system has achieved high levels of provider satisfaction with the EHR as demonstrated by internal metrics and the ARCH Collaborative.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the factors contributing to increasing provider stress and burnout.
  • Identify factors uncovered by the ARCH Collaborative which impact provider satisfaction with electronic health records.
  • Relate programs which address factors impacting provider satisfaction.
  • Assess the results of one healthcare system following a decade long effort to improve provider satisfaction with the electronic health record.
