Beyond improving profits and cutting down on wasted overhead, data in healthcare is being used to predict epidemics, cure disease, improve quality of life and avoid preventable deaths. With the world’s population increasing and everyone living longer, models of treatment delivery are rapidly changing, and many of the decisions behind those changes are being driven by data. The drive now is to understand as much about a patient as possible, as early in their life as possible – hopefully picking up warning signs of serious illness at an early enough stage that treatment is far more simple (and less expensive) than if it had not been spotted until later.

So the healthcare data ecosystem, how we manage it and put it to productive use, is more important than ever. This half-day conference workshop introduces attendees to domains of data management that are fundamental to the health and productive use of healthcare data. We will explore trends, emerging and best practices, and encourage attendees to share their experiences in this interactive workshop format.

This program is designed for a diverse audience – informaticists, technical/business/data analysts, service line leaders and executives – looking to grow their knowledge about data management, data governance and advancing analytics. The program consists of three sessions as follows:

01 – Data Management Fundamentals

• Enumerate “most valued” and “most challenging” data management functions and what’s driving efforts
• Understand the value (or not) of frameworks and models for data management, data quality, data governance, data maturity
• Survey the data management lifecycle technology landscape – nice-to-have vs. need-to-have
• Share approaches and organizational structures for data management and other lessons learned

02 – A Deeper Dive into Data Governance

• Introduce current thinking around the discipline of data governance
• Illustrate key considerations and activities associated with the implementation of a data governance program
• Invite dialogue, through a case study discussion, on common experiences, needs, challenges and expectations of data governance in healthcare – both internally and within an organization’s larger community of care

03 – Analytics Roundtable

• This session explores the analytics continuum and value chain. Attendees will be encouraged to participate and bring their own case studies in analytics to share with the others.

FACULTY

Dan Rounds - President, Immersive LLC

Dan brings over 20 years of experience building and growing organizations focused on the delivery of technology solutions to the healthcare market. Prior to co-founding Immersive, Dan was the President and CEO of Noesis Health, a national healthcare consultancy. He concurrently served as COO of Noesis’ sister company, iSirona (now NantHealth), a leading medical device connectivity solution provider. Santa Rosa Consulting acquired Noesis Health where he continued as a Partner; leading their implementation and integration business units. Dan has held other key leadership roles at CTG Health Solutions and MedPlus (Quest Diagnostics).

Dan is a long-time, outspoken advocate of improving data quality and integrity within healthcare. He is a proponent of interoperability and semantic standards, as well as an evangelist for positive patient identity proofing and matching. His passion is for innovating tomorrow’s solutions using today’s most advanced technologies. His current professional interests are in the fields of streaming, embedded, and behavioral analytics, personalized (intelligent) applications, and autonomous algorithm calibration.

Stephanie Crabb, A.M - Principal, Immersive LLC

Stephanie is Co-Founder and Principal at Immersive, a healthcare data lifecycle management company where she leadsv program and solution development, knowledge management and customer success. Stephanie brings 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry where she has served in program/solution development, client service and business development roles for leading firms including The Advisory Board Company, WebMD, CTG Health Solutions and CynergisTek. She has led a number of program and product launches with an emphasis on competitive differentiation, rapid adoption, client satisfaction, and strategic portfolio management.

Prior to her work at these firms Stephanie served as an assistant project director for a large Maternal and Child Health Bureau grantee working on the national Bright Futures and Healthy Start initiatives to develop and document best practices in the care continuum for pediatrics and infant mortality, and to inform federal and state health policy initiatives in these areas.

Stephanie holds her A.B. and A.M. from the University of Chicago. Stephanie serves as the Scholarship Chair of CNFLHIMSS, on AHIMA’s Data Analytics Practice Council and recently completed a two-year term on the Advisory Board of the Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security (AEHIS) of CHIME.
