The Ontario Chapter of HIMSS is pleased to offer our members access to SCAN Health’s upcoming “Ask the Expert” Webinar on Cyber Hygiene in Health Systems.  Dr. Anne Snowden, Scientific Director & CEO of SCAN Health, recently delivered an engaging presentation at our AGM and will be moderating this inaugural event.  This presentation will be delivered by Dr. Randy Bradley, BS, MS, PhD, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management at the University of Tennessee and is an internationally renowned supply chain and healthcare information technology strategist and researcher.  Randy is also a member of the HIMSS North America Nominating Committee and a member of the Tennessee HIMSS chapter. 

Healthcare supply chains are not exempt from the many cybersecurity risks and threats to patient privacy and personal health information. Given the increasing connectedness of various forms of medical devices and equipment, operational technologies, as well as potential points of vulnerability across the continuum of the healthcare value chain, it is vital that supply chain leaders be aware of potential threats as it pertains to outside partners or providers with access to mission critical and non-mission critical systems that may or may not be within the purview of the chief supply chain officer.

This “Ask the Expert” session on Cyber Hygiene will address these issues. Additionally, it will discuss the essentials of cybersecurity and help participants understand the anatomy of a security breach and how to take practical steps that could potentially reduce breaches in their organizations. The speaker will discuss risks posed by black market and gray market products and provide guidance for supply chain and procurement professionals.
