This presentation by Shannon Vogel, TMA’s director of HIT, will provide physician perspective and policy insight that help drive TMA’s HIT advocacy efforts at the state and federal levels. Shannon will also provide an overview of TMA’s resources and talk about various health technology issues impacting physicians and patients.

Shannon Vogel, Director of Health Information Technology & Special Projects, has been at the Texas Medical Association (TMA) since 1999. In her role, she oversees HIT advocacy, education, and resources for Texas physicians. In addition, Shannon oversees TMA’s vendor program that offers discount to TMA members on a variety of products and services. Shannon is a Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) fellow and serves on the board of the Austin chapter. She received her bachelor’s degree from St. Edward’s University in Austin and master’s degree in health informatics from the School of Biomedical Informatics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
