About the Maryland Chapter of HIMSS Charity Program:

The Maryland Chapter of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and its Board of Directors launched the Charity Program in 2018 and remain committed to identifying additional charitable organizations that leverage technology to support the health and well-being of the communities they serve.

Our organization provides leadership in the advancement and effective use of technology for all aspects of care. In collaboration with our national and local agenda, the Charity Program recipient must provide programs and services that align to our mission and vision, specifically:

  • Supporting Healthcare Transformation
  • Expanding Access to High Quality Care
  • Increasing Economic Opportunity
  • Making Communities Healthier

Charity Program recipients will receive a monetary donation raised from our year-long Chapter events and sponsorships. The 2017 – 2018 Charity Program recipient was a Maryland-based non-profit organization whose mission and vision is to strengthen Baltimore’s inner-city youth by providing education and fitness classes on the benefits of living a “healthier lifestyle” and is committed to the physical and mental health of youth ages 11-24. The organization was granted funds for its health tracking systems.

The Community Outreach Committee is seeking Maryland based non-profit organizations that would benefit from our funds and are committed to using the proceeds towards a healthcare information technology initiative or program.
