Hundreds of Healthcare Professionals to Gather on Maryland Health IT Day at MDHIMSS Educational Conference

 

HUNDREDS OF HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS GATHER ON MARYLAND HEALTH IT DAY AT MDHIMSS EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE

— MDHIMSS Inaugural Two-Day Conference Highlights Health + Tech in the Mid-Atlantic — 

WHAT:  The Maryland Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (MDHIMSS) will welcome hundreds of healthcare professionals to Turf Valley Resort for its Inaugural Two-Day Conference. Guests will enjoy the 11th Annual MDHIMSS Golf Tournament on May 22; an evening of cocktails and networking followed by dinner; and the return of a full day of in-person education and networking events on May 23.  

Attendees will have the choice of joining presentations and panel discussions in one of two tracks: Tackling Workforce Strategy or Embracing Technology and Innovation. Speakers will be representing some of the region’s largest healthcare systems including Johns Hopkins Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, Frederick Health, MedStar Health, University of Maryland Medical System, LifeBridge Health, and Penn Medicine, as well as healthcare organizations such as CRISP Shared Services, Microsoft, Maryland Health Care Commission, and Maryland Community Health System. Topics range from workforce challenges and crises in healthcare, the expanding role of AI technology in healthcare, advancing care through data analytics and innovation, virtual care delivery models, healthcare cyber risks and priorities, and consumer engagement. 

On behalf of Governor Moore, Delegate Pamela Lanman Guzzone, member of the Health and Government Operations Committee, will present MDHIMSS with a proclamation naming May 23, 2023 as Maryland Health IT Day, and share a healthcare legislative update. 

MDHIMSS will support Health Care for the Homeless (HCH) as its charity beneficiary during the event. HCH works to end homelessness through racially equitable health care, housing, and advocacy. Serving 10,000 neighbors annually, HCH runs three outpatient clinics, a mobile clinic, convalescent care, and an outreach team. MDHIMSS will be raising money and collecting needed items for the charity.

The Maryland Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) provides leadership in the advancement and effective use of technology for all aspects of care. With over 2,000 members throughout the state, the organization is still growing. MD HIMSS supports and serves academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, government, and for-profit companies in health care delivery, managed care, consulting, and technology.
